Questions

What owners ask us

What is an integrated solar roof?

It is a standing seam metal roof with solar cells integrated into the steel panels. The roof and the solar array are one product: no racking, no modules bolted on top, just an elegant metal roof with great curb appeal.

Is this an alternative to solar shingles?

Yes, both are BIPV offerings with the solar cells integrated into the roofing material. The difference is in construction. Solar shingles are many small tiles with many connections; the Roofit.Solar solution is full-length steel roofing panels joined with a double-lock standing seam — the same construction metal roofs have relied on for decades.

How does a solar metal roof handle Canadian winters?

Since 2016, Roofit.Solar has successfully installed its products in many Nordic, Alpine and Baltic countries. Solar cells are more efficient in cold weather than in hot. A smooth steel roof sheds snow rather than holding it. Engineered for high snow load, this product also provides exceptional wind and water protection.

What does it cost?

A Roofit.Solar installation costs slightly more than a conventional metal roof with standard solar panels. Costs vary according to roof configuration, and solar array size.

Can solar roof panels go on a heritage building?

Often, yes. Roofit.Solar products have been successfully installed on heritage-designated and civic buildings in Europe where conventional unsightly solar panels could not be approved. Roofit.Solar panels come in three colors to suit heritage buildings roofs. We can help you make the case to your municipality.
